Kin•dom Community: One camper scholarship for the Winter Gathering event

$20.00

kin•dom community is a queer-led organization creating space for queer belonging and celebration.  Founded in 2020, kin•dom has evolved into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that lives our mission out in the world primarily through our kin•dom camp program.

Our name “kin•dom” was inspired by the concept first named by mujerista theologian Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz and speaks to the full inclusion and interdependent relationships among all people. The “kindom” worldview offers an alternative to “kingdom” because it looks beyond the hierarchical structures of power that so often divide and oppress and invites us all to see the ways we are interconnected and made better together when we relate as kin, or family, to one another. To best meet the needs of our LGBTQIA+ campers, their families, and the intersectional communities with which they identify, kin•dom camp commits to welcoming those in need of a space where they can show up as their full and authentic selves. Our holistic approach to community and individual care includes partnerships with a diverse array of non-profit, spiritual, and support organizations that reflect the identities and needs of those who attend our kin•dom programs.

Description

In early January, kin•dom community hosts two Winter Gathering events that allow our campers to reconnect after the holidays, which can often be difficult on LGBTQIA+ young people, as well support and resources for their parent/guardians. These day-long events also allow for prospective kin•dom campers and their parents to meet the staff and volunteer team and to get a taste of the kin•dom culture of inclusivity, safety, love, and affirmation.
