Coming in April: the second annual nature- inspired Art Show. This year the theme is “Everyone’s Environment.” It is a wonderful way to bring the beauty of God’s creation into our sanctuary building. I love the way our own WCPC artists give me a new perspective on the world around me. So, all you artists and artist-wannabes: time to put those creative hands to work. Every piece is important to fill out our gallery. Maybe I’ll see you there, so watch your step!

Have you met your pathway? I LOVE the one near my tree! You see, many of us live near the 160-mile Woodlands Hike and Bike Trail system. How awesome is THAT?! We can enjoy all the benefits of outdoors, fresh air and exercise to get where we need to go. School, shopping, lunch, and maybe even church! If you have not been out there, why not try it? Time to introduce yourself: HELLO, PATHWAY, nice to meet you!

Okay, we have to talk about poop. From your pet, that is. Did you know that dog poop, left on the ground, is the 3rd biggest contributor to water pollution? Yes, and it is loaded with bacteria and parasites that can make you sick. It is especially dangerous for children. So please scoop the poop. Seal it in a plastic bag and place it in the garbage. That will help us keep our water clean and our people healthy.

I love the Christmas season! Friends, family, fun and GIFTS! Well, I have a great idea for you. This year, REPURPOSE to make a gift for someone. That’s right. Use something you might otherwise throw away. And make it creatively new for a loved one. They will really appreciate your effort and creativity. If you search “repurpose” in your web browser, up pops lots and lots of great ideas. And you know that your gift will be unique!

Fun facts about worms:
-
Worms eat almost anything that is not alive.
-
Worms loosen the soil, admitting air and water to help roots grow.
-
Worm poop is wonderful fertilizer, rich in nutrients that plants need.
-
Use of synthetic fertilizer will make worms sick, and they will flee from your yard.
-
This worm, named Willie, is my best friend!

We say, “That’s water down the drain.” But where does it go? Well…it is a long story. But eventually the treated water ends up in our lakes and streams. And with it an awful lot of gunk. Gunk that can kill some of your favorite creatures, like ME! You see, water treatments systems remove organic waste. But not chemicals. So please dispose of cleaners, oils, pool chemicals, pesticides, solvents and such at the Pruitt Rd. Recycling Center. Thanks, everybody!
