Congregational care

Caring is a TEAM effort! At WCPC, elected elders and deacons oversee and coordinate congregational care. Many of our members volunteer to serve and support the work of these ministry teams.

Ministry Teams of the WCPC Session

These teams help to facilitate, plan and coordinate all the ministries at WCPC. If you are interested in serving on a ministry team of the Session, contact Rev. Dr. David F. Jones.

Ministry Teams of the Diaconate

Our elected deacons are at the heart of caring for our WCPC church family. Annually, EVERY WCPC member is assigned to a currently serving deacon. Your deacon will do their best to reach out periodically to check on you/your family, but if you need them in the interim, please reach out through their contact information with joys, concerns, or needs for church functions you are helping to coordinate. They will get you connected!

Baby

Acknowledges births of new babies in our congregation through support and celebration by the WCPC family.

Cookies

Solicits volunteers to provide cookies for church functions.

Meals

Volunteers prepare and deliver meals to WCPC members who need assistance.

Bereavement

When there is a death, these volunteers prepare the church for the memorial service and serve as hosts for a reception, if one is desired by the family.

Home Outreach

Connects with church members who have limited outings from home and are unable to regularly attend church in person.

New Members Ministry

Works with pastors and members of the Evangelism Team to help new members find their place to serve and grow their faith as members of this congregation.

Card Ministry

Coordinates with the Prayer Ministry Team to extend care to our adults and acknowledge member celebrations.

Hospital

Visits members in local hospitals or rehabilitation centers, in coordination with pastors.

Prayer Ministry

Works to strengthen the prayer life of our congregation; coordinates with pastors and staff on updating the WCPC prayer list.

Stephen Ministry

Lay people from our congregation are carefully selected to be trained as Stephen Ministers. If you are a compassionate person and a good listener, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. After completing 50 hours of training, Stephen Ministers are qualified to meet regularly with care receivers to accompany them through challenging life experiences such as grief, divorce, job loss, or illness.

The Sanctuary Guild is a vital part of this ministry preparing Communion elements, changing our beautiful banners and paraments, ordering flowers, decorating for the holidays, and lovingly caring for our worship space.

Ushers are available at all services to hand out worship bulletins, help direct and seat worshipers as needed, collect the offering, and prepare the sanctuary for the next service.

Sound and Media employees and volunteers assist with the technology aspects needed at worship services and other events.

Gardening Group: We work in the gardens and green space of our campus.

Pathway Clean-Up: Our adopted pathway is along W. Panther Creek Drive, from Woodlands Parkway to Lake Woodlands Drive.  Volunteers pick up litter quarterly on Saturdays.

Wonders of Creation Art Show: A month-long “Wonders of Creation” art exhibit displaying the creative talents of our congregation is organized every even year in April.

Campus-Wide Recycling: Each month we collect recyclables, which are then deposited in home recycling bins. We encourage recycling awareness as part of all church activities.
